What is the NowPatient Personalized Learning service?

Good healthcare starts with learning. NowPatient Personalized Learning uses your individual health profile — including your conditions, medications, and health interests — to deliver tailored educational content. The service automatically curates relevant blog articles and condition information specifically for your needs, with no searching required. Better health education helps you stay proactive, make informed decisions, and have more meaningful conversations with your healthcare provider about your care.

Is Personalized Learning free?

Yes. Personalized Learning is a free service available to all registered NowPatient users.

Is Personalized Learning safe for me to use?

Yes. All content is clinically reviewed and designed to complement professional medical advice, not replace it. If you have concerns about your health, always consult your doctor.

How do I access Personalized Learning?

Navigate to the ‘Personalized Learning’ section of your account homepage. You will see two Service Cards: Personalized Blog Articles and Personalized Conditions. If you completed your Health Profile when you first created your NowPatient account, personalized content will automatically be available within the Service Cards. If the Health Profile was not completed, please update this in your Account Profile. Once completed, you will be redirected to the account homepage where you can access your personalized content.

How do I view my Personalized Blog Articles?

Follow these steps:

  1. Select the ‘Personalized Blog Articles’ Service Card, located on the Personalized Learning section of your account homepage.

  2. From the Options menu, tap ‘View Blogs’.

  3. Browse articles tailored to your health conditions and interests.

  4. Scroll through the curated content displayed for you.

  5. Read selected articles to deepen your understanding of your health and medications.

How do I view Personalized Conditions information?

Follow these steps:

  1. Select the ‘Personalized Conditions’ Service Card, located on the Personalized Learning section of your account homepage.

  2. From the Options menu, tap ‘View Conditions’.

  3. Browse condition information matched to your health profile.

  4. Scroll through the tailored resources presented.

  5. Read selected content to better understand your specific conditions and how to manage them.

What information is used to personalize my content?

The Personalized Learning service uses the following information from your Health Profile:

  • Current health conditions

  • Medications you are taking

  • Health interests you have specified

  • Age and demographic information

  • Treatment history

This information helps the system identify the most relevant educational content for your specific situation.

How often is new content added?

The content library is regularly updated with new articles and condition information. Your personalized feed will automatically refresh to show new content relevant to your health profile as it becomes available.

Can I search for specific topics?

Yes. While your feed is automatically personalized, you can also use the search function within Personalized Blog Articles and Personalized Conditions to find specific topics or information you are interested in.

What if I want to read about conditions I do not have?

Personalized Learning focuses on your specific health profile, but you can use the search function to find additional topics, or update your health interests in your Health Profile to receive content on subjects you want to learn more about. For broader NHS health information on any topic, the NowPatient Other Useful Resources service provides access to the complete NHS health information library.

How do I update my content preferences?

Your personalized content automatically updates when you modify your Health Profile. To update:

  1. Navigate to ‘Health Profile’ in your account settings.

  2. Update your conditions, medications, or health interests.

  3. Save your changes.

  4. Your Personalized Learning content will automatically refresh to reflect your updates.

Will I receive notifications about new content?

You can opt in to receive notifications when new content relevant to your health profile is added. These notifications can be managed in your account settings.

Is the content medically reviewed?

Yes. All blog articles and condition information provided through Personalized Learning are clinically reviewed to ensure accuracy and reliability. This content is educational and should complement, not replace, professional medical advice from your doctor.

Why is Personalized Learning important for my healthcare?

Understanding your health conditions and medications empowers you to:

  • Make informed decisions about your treatment

  • Recognise important symptoms or side effects

  • Better communicate with your healthcare providers

  • Manage your conditions more effectively
